Omd enola gay hiroshima

I guess the title and the lyrics are quite dark, nodding to the atom bomb and the plane that delivered Little Boy to Hiroshima? Organisation feels very much like an LP in one tone, more so with the addition of 'Enola Gay's b-side 'Annex', though the other bonus tracks feel different.

These include the Dindisc re-recording of 'Electricity', which is fine, but slightly pointless in that the original remains fantastic and four tracks recorded live tracks 11 - 14 , which are more akin to the sound of the debut LP.

"Enola-Gay"

I was initially skeptical when I approached this vinyl and set it up, especially as my old man was so disappointed after listening to it upon its release. I've been a big OMD fan for many years, but this is one album that for some reason I have never come across the CD is surprisingly hard to track down elsewhere. Getting straight to the release, this is a major step-up out, admittedly, ageing vinyl. The dynamics are absolutely superb and give a real warmth for the synthesisers that swirl around in every track.

It was also nice to hear some sounds in the mix that were not present on the vinyl, and therefore provides better definition of the original recordings. Have they 'corrected' anything? It doesn't sound so, although the synth pads used for 'Statues' sound so much cleaner. I've met Andy McCluskey a few times he lives near by and it was surprising that he doesn't rate this album highly.

Perhaps he was just being modest, but I think it offers a fair share of wonderful tracks, if not as consistent as say 'Architecture and Morality'. Nothing needs to be said about the title track 'Enola Gay', but 'Statues' and 'Stanlow' are worthy enough to purchase this album alone. They are sincerely beautiful tracks. Contrary to other fans, I actually find the cover of 'The More I See You' to be cringey at best, and feels almost like a filler. I guess the bonus tracks more than make up for this however All in all, this is a solid album that has some wonderful raw qualities to it.

Recently bought OMD's most recent album and recalled how much I liked their earlier material.

This is a timeless album with some excellent tracks. Good purchase.

The very dark and intense second album from OMD. Halfway between the Synth Pop of their debut and the atmospheric masterpiece of Architecture And Morality. Worth it for their haunting masterpiece Enola Gay alone, although Stanlow, a 6 minute tribute to an Oil Refinery has to be heard to be believed! A very unusual and very good synth masterpiece. Highly Recommended!

Entrevista

Very good album lots of amazing tracks. Just for my collection. This c. Great quality great sound. This is to my mind, the best OMD album that came out. It's dark, serious and atmospheric. I'd buy it for Statues and Stanlow alone, tracks that I've lived with since I was 12 in and they are still as atmospheric as ever. My last copy lasted twenty years and who can forget Enola Gay. The soporific in a good way beauty of Stanlow is my personal favourite. What's not to like about OMD's second album?
